Day 1:
Departure from Quito city at 7 a. m. taking Simón Bolivar Avenue we will travel in the middle of the volcanoes avenue, which was named after the German geologist Alexander Von Humboldt, in a clear day you can see mountains like Ruco Pichincha, Guagua Pichincha, Atacazo, Corazón, Ilinizas, Chimborazo, Rumiñahui, Cotopaxi, Sincholagua, Pasochoa, Antisana, Cayambe, Cotacachi, we continue through the southern Panamerican passing through the valleys of Machachi and Tambillo, agricultural and dairy industry areas and after an hour and a half, we will enter the Cotopaxi National Park where we will arrive at the base of the lake in Limpiopungo at 3800 m.a.s.l. (12500 ft) here we can make a walk around the lagoon for one hour knowing the flora and birds of the place such as Andean Lapwing, Andean Coot, Andean Teal, Carunculated Caracara, maybe Condor, etc.
As an option we can go up with the car up to 4500 m until the place of the parking lot to make a walk towards the refuge “Jose Rivas” to 4800 m during the walk to and from the refuge it takes 2 hours approximately, finished the visit to the National Park we leave it and we go to the Hacienda “La Cienega” one of the most historical and beautiful of the Andes where we will have time to have lunch. After lunch, we continue for about an hour and a half passing through the villages of Latacunga, Ambato, Pelileo until we reach the city of Baños located at 1800 m. a. s. l. where we’ll be staying. At night we can enjoy the thermal waters of Baños and bars and restaurants in the city.
Day 2:
After breakfast we will go on a tour of the waterfalls in the Pastaza River canyon, getting to know the “Pailón del Diablo”, the “Manto de la Novia”, where you can cross the waterfall on a Tarabita to take pictures of the waterfall. Afterward we will go to the community of Rio Verde to make a small walk of about 40 minutes passing hanging bridges we will arrive at the waterfall “Pailon del Diablo” the second highest waterfall of Ecuador in the same one that we can take pictures of the landscape of the nature and approach under the waterfall to feel the waterfall. After the visit, we will return to Baños where we will have lunch and then return to Quito city on a journey of approximately 3 hours.
